The narrow 343 esque approach was very successful against RMA in 1st leg of the clash last season and I'm glad Galtier is harnessing it. The use of Mbappe as a central depth giver who can also briefly combine briefly with Neymar/Messi and then break off deep again renders it a very appropriate approach given the breakthrough potential of Mendes and Hakimi. Great article.
Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it. Will be interesting to see how PSG deal with transitions against top CL sides, because the midfield can be left a bit exposed and the defence stretched - although we have yet to see how Galtier will adapt, with the current set-up perfectly setting the players up to thrive in the league. Think any knockout tie they participate in will be high scoring, but equally, would place them among the favourites for the competition.
Yeah I've noted a few adaptations to Neymar's defensive role in pressing, but their defensive block and transitional defense can definitely improve. Then again not a problem in Ligue 1 and when you have players that are the 'system' because their skill is in a fitting context, there's only so much in terms of complex tactical guidelines you actually have to work on.
